World Refugee Day Celebration at Mae La Temporary Shelter, Tak Province

To commemorate World Refugee Day, observed annually on 20 June, and to recognize the importance, dignity, and contributions of refugees, the COERR Foundation, in collaboration with the Mae La Temporary Shelter Committee, organizations and agencies working in Mae La Temporary Shelter, organized a World Refugee Day celebration on 19 June 2026 at Mae La Temporary Shelter, Tak Province. Approximately 4,000 refugees and community members participated in the event.

The opening ceremony was led by the Temporary Shelter Committee, with representatives from relevant organizations and agencies invited to participate. Following the opening ceremony, participating organizations set up information booths and exhibitions covering a range of topics and activities. COERR hosted an information booth featuring its work in agriculture, environmental management, and social welfare, providing participants with an opportunity to learn more about COERR’s programmes and activities.

The celebration also provided an opportunity for refugees and other participants to come together, exchange ideas and experiences, and take part in activities that promoted community participation, solidarity, and greater understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by refugees.
