Gratitude Day – Continuing the Spirit of Service with a Volunteer Heart for the Poor and Fellow Human Beings
On Saturday, 12 September 2026, COERR Foundation and COERR volunteers jointly organized “Gratitude Day” to express gratitude and commemorate Rev. Fr. John Baptist Boonlert Tharachart, co-founder of COERR Foundation, and Rev. Fr. Wisit Hiriphong, who initiated the establishment of COERR volunteer groups in various parishes. Approximately 180 COERR volunteers from 18 parishes attended the event, which was held at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
The event began with an introduction to COERR volunteerism, followed by presentations on the activities and achievements of COERR volunteers from various parishes. The volunteers have worked together to assist poor and disadvantaged people, those experiencing hardship, and others in need of assistance in their communities. Their work reflects the power of volunteerism, compassion, and sharing with fellow human beings.
Before the Mass, Dr. Wisanu Tharachart gave a tribute and commemorative speech in honor of Rev. Fr. Boonlert Tharachart. He highlighted Fr. Boonlert’s good deeds and his spirit of service to the poor, which have inspired the work of COERR staff and volunteers and have continued to guide their work to the present day.
The Mass was presided over by Bishop Emeritus Joseph Pibul Visithonchai, with Rev. Fr. Tanu Chetzadhongphakdee, Rev. Fr. Chusak Boonanantabut, and Rev. Fr. Joseph Samaiego Briones concelebrating.
Following the Mass, Rev. Fr. Tanu Chetzadhongphakdee, Director of COERR Foundation, presented certificates of recognition to 18 outstanding young people from 8 parishes, in recognition of and to encourage their spirit of volunteerism and active participation in helping their communities.
