Saturday Activity “Know Yourself, Know Others, Know How to Stay Safe” at Ban Don Yang Temporary Shelter, Kanchanaburi Province

To promote life skills and self-protection among children and youth, the COERR Foundation, in collaboration with COERR Camp Based Refugee Staffs (CBRS) and youth representatives from Ban Don Yang Temporary Shelter, organized a Saturday activity entitled “Know Yourself, Know Others, Know How to Stay Safe” on 11 July 2026 at Ban Don Yang Temporary Shelter. A total of 35 children and youth participated in the activity. Held during the weekend, the activity provided an opportunity for children and youth to learn about understanding their own emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, as well as protecting themselves from potential risks and working constructively with others.

The activity was facilitated by youth representatives, who served as facilitators and led the sessions, with support from Camp-based Refugee Support (CBRS) helped ensure the activities were conducted smoothly. The sessions emphasized active participation through discussions, sharing opinions, and exploring questions related to potential risks that children and youth may face in their daily lives, including situations where parents need to work outside the camp and children may need to take care of themselves or stay with other people. Participants also shared different ways of protecting themselves and seeking help when faced with unsafe situations.

Through the activity, children and youth had the opportunity to exchange views, share their experiences, and explore ways to respond to different situations that may arise in their daily lives. In addition, CBRS provided children and youth with information about the Child Protection Committee (CPC), including its roles and responsibilities and available reporting channels. This helped strengthen their knowledge and understanding and enabled them to access appropriate support when needed. The activity was successfully conducted, and the information and feedback gathered from the children and youth will be used to inform the planning of future activities, ensuring that they respond to the needs and concerns identified by children and youth in the community.
