Mobile Elderly Club Activities to Promote the Well-being of Older Refugees and Vulnerable Older People at Ban Nupo Temporary Shelter, Tak Province

To promote the physical and emotional well-being and quality of life of older refugees and vulnerable older people in the community, the COERR Foundation, in collaboration with community volunteers, organized Mobile Elderly Club Activities through home visits to older people living on July 24, 2026. The activity focused on older people with health and mobility limitations who were unable to regularly participate in community-based activities. A total of 30 people participated in this activity.

The activities focused on promoting physical and emotional well-being and reducing feelings of loneliness among older people. Caregivers and volunteers led light physical exercises and stretching activities appropriate to the participants’ physical conditions, including hand, finger, arm, and shoulder exercises. Participants also took part in conversations and experience-sharing sessions, providing them with an opportunity to talk about their life experiences, memories, feelings, and needs. In addition, emotional support was provided through encouragement, expressions of care and concern, and gentle hand massages to help participants feel relaxed and cared for.

Through the activities, older people actively participated according to their individual abilities. The light physical exercises encouraged movement and helped participants feel more relaxed, while conversations and experience-sharing created a friendly atmosphere, reduced feelings of loneliness, and provided opportunities for older people to express their feelings and needs. The involvement of CBRS and community volunteers also helped strengthen relationships and promote a community-based support system for older people.

The activity highlighted the importance of reaching older people who face health and mobility limitations, particularly through regular home visits. Such visits help ensure continued follow-up on their living conditions, health, and needs, while providing opportunities to plan appropriate assistance and support in a timely manner.
